expresses indignation at the anti-Axis vandalism. Father Valtorta of the Catholic Church issued this statement: "My indignation at the recent blind bombing of Rome by the air forces of the anti-Axis Powers is beyond description. In this war, no other acts of anti-Axis vandalism surpass this. The bombing of Rome was equivalent to having as an enemy all Catholics who consider Rome their property. All wars are attended by destruction, but the recent wanton attack, which destroyed irreplaceable buildings of historic value, is an unpardonable crime against Catholics of the whole world.
